Luclin is here and there is plenty of solo and group work to do on off raid hours. As with every expansion please visit www.eqitems.com/ to learn about your new best in slots, luclin-era spells, focus effect items and clicky items.
Unlike the linear zone layout of Velious, Luclin places you at the center of a dark webbed labyrinth of zones. Make use of your find tool and zone guide to navigate through the confusing zone connectors. See Flashy’s pinned discord post for a map. One thing to beware of is the Deep -> Ssra Temple connector. If your guide tells you to take this path, DON’T. This is a suicide mission on both sides.
While there is a fairly clear progression through the content doors of the expansion (Kill Emperor-> Vex Thal), there is so much that needs to be done before and between those two points that it can seem overwhelming. Hopefully this write-up and the links attached can help you organize your time as best as possible when not raiding.
1. Get to 60 and get your critical AA points done: Do some research on your class’s needs and look to setup a priority list for which alternate advancement skills will give you the best raid utility. You can currently open your AA tab and filter by Luclin to plan ahead. The hot AA grind spots are The Deep AE groups (fastest), Grieg’s End (easiest) and Ssraeeshza Temple (keys and bane weapons).
2. Work on your Emperor Key: As many people as possible will need access to the Emperor’s room in Ssra Temple. This link is my Ssraeshza Temple bible with an outline of the various key quests and drops as well as a good summary of the raid targets in the zone. www.tapatalk.com/groups/jadedynasty/my-guide-to-ssraeshza-temple-t1198.html . Here are several of the better maps of the zone www.allakabor.com/eqatlas/ssraeshzatemple.html . Get a group for the piece you need at either Taskmasters / Comm 1 / Comm 2 or Insignia Room.
3. Work on your bane weapons: Both Emperor and Seru require melee to have bane weapons to deal physical damage to them. The Emperor bane weapons are relatively easy as detailed in the link above. They only require Strange Green Metal from Ssra undead mine groups and an appropriate Shissar weapon that drops commonly off Elite Guards.
Seru bane weapons are slightly more tricky because they require someone in the guild to have very high blacksmithing for a droppable component and then each player to have 150+ blacksmithing or fletching for the final no-drop combine. Check out which components you need here everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1997 .
4. Start farming your Vex Thal shards: Similar to Veeshan’s Peak, the loot packed raid finale of the expansion requires a long tedious quest that spans many zones and hotly contested camps. Luckily I found VT shards to be a lot less painful than VP medallions but they still take a lot of individual effort and time. First is the quest link here everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2000 . Also I put together a quick video showing where the shards can be farmed and a few sneaky spots that avoid the main overly camped spots www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5BSloPhfWw .
5. Mount Up: Buying a mount with plat or cash not only saves you a lot of travel time, but the mount buff is a huge boost to hp, mana and AC.
6. Bonus Important Quests: All casters with some extra plat should immediately complete their Earring of the Solstice quest by buying the components in the bazaar. Here is a good reddit post with the quest link along with a few more interesting quests in Luclin https://www.reddit.com/r/everquest/comments/5763aq/tlp_luclin_cool_quests_easy_gear/ . And a link to the start of the coveted epic Sigil Earring of Veracity quest everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1667 .
